On April 20th 2022, Vingroup signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the UK‘s leading education system Brighton College to establish Brighton College Vietnam. 

Brighton College Vietnam at Vinhomes Ocean Park, Hanoi is now open for admissions for the 2023-2024 academic year from grade 1 to grade 10 (pupils from 5 to 16 years old). This is the first campus to be established under the partnership between Vingroup and Brighton College, an UK’s top private school with nearly 200 years of history.

We are looking for talents for a variety of positions at the school.

I. JOB DESCRIPTION:

Report to: Head of Drama and Director of Music

Core purposes

  • Working with our Head of Drama and Director of Music, the Music and Drama Technician will support learning and teaching in the Music and Drama Departments. They will support the delivery of the highest standard of musical shows and concerns and encourage the delivery of high quality and forward thinking drama.
  • To take responsibility all technical areas within BCVN performance spaces and other school venues.To support the day-to-day running of the School‘s Theatre and Performing Arts facilities and support for music and drama technical provision.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • To provide assistance as required with all supporting aspects of music and drama productions, technical classes and exam performances, and other School events which involve performance in the Schools’ Performing Arts Facilities. This includes set, and lighting design and set construction, lighting and sound installation.
  • To liaise with the Head of Drama and Director of Music for all School /Drama productions, concerts and exam performances.
  • Maintain all equipment and other technical resources Music and Drama departments,ensuring staff and students are able to utilise the equipment when required. Keep all areas clean and tidy, ensuring that storage is used effectively, and equipment and materials are securely and safely stored when not in use.
  • Provide audio-visual technical support and advice to other School events and departments, when required.
  • To liaise with the Heads of Music Drama regarding external hires, protecting the interests of the School and ensuring all Health & Safety requirements are met.
  • Offer support and advice to pupils undertaking design and technical modules and music teachnology, making sure pupils understand the processes and equipment 
  • To liaise with the Head of Drama and Director of Music regardingorganising materials and equipment needed for lessons, such as performance lighting, sound systems, craft materials, and some basic first-line IT/AV support in the classroom.
  • Run a Technical Theatre Activity for interested pupils, allowing pupils to take an active and major role in the preparation and running of productions (within all legal and safety considerations).
  • Provide first-line maintenance support for all technical equipment, machines, furniture, fixtures and fittings within the Department. When necessary, and with the express consent of the Head of Drama and Director of Music, contact and liaise with the School‘s Maintenance Dept, or arrange external suppliers/contractors for repairs and 
  • Monitor and maintain stock items (lamps, gels, gobos, tape, screws, timber, etc.) and all stores and general day-to-day equipment as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of developments within technical music and theatre and undertake training as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are met for daily use of the performance spaces.
  • Be aware of security for equipment, building, staff and students and how this can be maintained.
  • Any other duties as might reasonably be expected or requested by the line manager.

It is hope that the role will also involve

  • Encouraging pupils to develop an interest in music and drama and participation in hands on learning.
  • Leading a co curricular club in either music or drama to encourage the interests of our young people in either of these fields.

II. REQUIREMENTS:

- A bachelor’s degree or higher in technical production, stage management, electronic lighting and sound;

- At least 2 years of experience working as a technician in theatre/stage or in an educational environment;

- Able to communicate in English

- Ability to use modern lighting, sound, and other technical equipment;

- Good knowledge of current health and safety regulations related to theatre is essential.

- Ability to handle situations flexibly and respond quickly to unexpected circumstances.
